Phrathammakosachan
(Nguem Indapanyo), also known as “Buddhadasa Bhikkhu,” was an enlightened Buddhist monk who was honored by UNESCO in 2006 as a world-renowned figure for his use of Buddhism to guide society. His original name was Ngueam Panich, and he was from Chaiya District, Surat Thani Province. He was the son of Mr. Chiang and Mrs. Khluean Panich, whose father was of Chinese descent. He had two younger siblings, Mr. Thammathas Panich and Mrs. Kimchoy Hemakul.

Venerable Buddhadasa was born on Sunday, the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, in the Year of the Horse, corresponding to May 27, 1906. He was ordained on July 29, 1926, vowing to be a servant of the Buddha, dedicating his life to spreading Buddhist teachings and serving humanity as much as possible. He initially founded Suan Mokkhaphalaram at Wat Traphang Chik in Phum Riang Subdistrict, Chaiya District, before relocating to its current location, Wat Tharn Nam Lai Suan Mokkhaphalaram.

He dedicated his life to faithfully pursuing his aspirations until his peaceful passing at Wat Mokkhaphalaram on July 8, 1993, at the age of 87, having been a monk for 67 years.
